This tie was played at Pittodrie on Saturday before a large attendance. Teams:- Orion: Shand; Willox, Bremner; Currie, Low, Wilson; Prophet, Burnet, Fraser, Henderson, Hogg. Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, Ross; Sangster, Thomson, Murphy; J. Mackie, C. Mackie, Barron, Woodlock, Shiach. Mr. J. Baillie, St Bernards, was referee.
Orion kicked off, and at once visited Bisset, but were beaten back. Barron and C. Mackie then retaliated, but Bremner sent them to the right about. Orion again returned, and through muddling at goalmouth allowed Thomson to step in and clear. Aberdeen then made their opponents' defence exert themselves to some extent, Willox and Bremner rendering yeoman service. The Stripes afterwards exerted themselves, but failed to get the ball past Bisset. The ground team directed their efforts on Shand with great vigour, but the keeper was in excellent form, and saved one shot from Sangster in masterly fashion. As half-time drew near both elevens made strenuous attempts to score but the period ended pointless.
The second half was hotly contested, both citadels being attacked in turn. Ultimately Thomson had a great run by himself, but at the critical moment was robbed of the sphere by Hogg. The game ended without scoring, and will be replayed next Saturday.
