In presence of a good attendance, these teams decided their replay match for the Rhodesia Cup at Pittodrie Park. The teams were:- Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, J. Mackie; Paterson, Thomson, Murphy; Barron, C. Mackie, Woodlock, Breslin, Macdonald. Victoria United: R. Murray; Craig, McHardy; R. Ritchie, A. Murray, Robertson; Knowles, Duncan, Lindsay, Ferries, G. Ritchie. Mr. George Henderson, Aberdeen, was referee.
Play opened briskly, and both goals were rapidly visited. The visitors forced the play, and Bisset had to keep a sharp lookout. Through a misunderstanding at goalmouth, half a dozen of the Victoria players let a rare chance slip. Aberdeen were then prominent, and severely taxed the United's defence, but failed to penetrate a compact trio. G. Ritchie burst away, and a pretty combined dash by the forwards resulted in Knowles netting with a swift grounder. By good play Aberdeen were again around Bisset, and a misunderstanding between J. Mackie and Murphy lost them the equaliser. Until half-time the Whites hovered in the neighbourhood of Murray, and had a keeper of average merit stood between the posts a few goals might have been registered.
On resuming, Victoria displayed great spirit and combination. After a spell of pressure, Ferries scored with a capital shot. Aberdeen then wrought hard to reduce the leeway, but their efforts were baulked by a brilliant half-back line, while their shooting left much to be desired. Their runs were spasmodic, for they were one moment defending and the next attacking. Lindsay nearly added a third, for the United, who netted the ball, but had the point disallowed for offside. Near the close, the ground team made a determined effort to score, but failed.
