Teams representing the Aberdeen A and a select eleven from East End and Mugiemoss Clubs met at Pittodrie last night. Much interest was taken in the fixture, owing to the fact that it was the first match since the affair of Monday night. No entrance money was taken at the gates, by way of compensating the public who paid for admission to the game on Monday evening and saw little for their money. Little advantage was taken of this, however, and of the 3000 spectators present the majority were juveniles. A collection was made on the grounds on behalf of the clubs, and this amounted to £2 10s. Another match is to be given the clubs in a short time. Teams:
Aberdeen A: King; Innes (Mugiemoss), Macfarlane; Booth, J. J. Simpson, Low; Ledingham (Bydand), Towns, Dalgarno, Ritchie, Toman.
Select: Greig (Muggiemoss); Brown (East End), F. Forbes (East End); Martin (Muggiemoss), Rennie (Muggiemoss), Ross (East End); Bruce (East End), Silver (Muggiemoss), Paxton (Muggiemoss), Gray (Muggiemoss), Sutherland (East End).
Referee - Mr. Arthur Watt.
Some splendid play was witness in the first half, the defence on both sides playing grandly. Towns put the ground team on the lead after fifteen minutes' play, and Macfarlane added a second point from a penalty some time later.
Play in the second period ruled extremely fast, the A team holding the upper hand. Greig, in the Select goal, effected some marvellous saves, and was deservedly cheered. Ritchie added a third goal after a brilliant run half the length of the field, and near the finish Towns culminated a fine piece of play by adding a fourth point. This was all the scoring, and the game ended in semi-darkness.<./p>
The best men on their respective sides were Towns, Simpson and Macfarlane for the winners, and for the juniors Sutherland, the three halves, and Greig in goal.
