Taylor's Four Goals
Taylor, Aberdeen's recruit from junior circles, was a grand opportunist. He led the Young Dons with dash and scored four of their goals. After a fairly quiet opening, the Young Dons took the lead, when, with fifteen minutes gone, Ritchie Smith Found the net. He and Geddes, the Junior's keeper, ran for a hefty return from Ritchie. Smith reached the ball first and slammed it into the empty net. Ten minutes later Taylor put the Young Dons further ahead. Warnock tricked Russell and sent in a hard drive which Geddes, at full stretch, could only palm out. The centre, lying handy, snicked the ball high into the net. Geddes brough off a smart save a few minutes later when he knocked out a Warnock lob. Two fruitless corners followed. Five minutes before the interval Taylor got another for Aberdeen "A". From a Black pass he tricked the onrushing Geddes and sent nto goal.Dashing Juniors
The Juniors resumed with dash, and Patterson went close with a header. The Select kept up their early promise, and, profiting by a defensive misunderstanding, Anderson reduced the leeway. Within a couple of minutes, however, the Young Dons again led by three goals. Taylor ran through from a slip fro Black to get his hat-trick. Taylor got his fourth and his side's fifth after half an hour, when he sent a terrific drive into the corner of the net.Source: Press & Journal, 10th September 1936
