A football match for the benefit of Frank Barrett, the ex-Aberdeen and Dundee goalkeeper, was played at Pittodrie, Aberdeen, last night between Aberdeen A team and the local junior team Parkvale. There was a fair attendants when the teams lined up as follows:-Aberdeen A: Fordyce; John Robertson, Willox; McCann, J. J. Simpson, Warrander, Simpson, Hilton, "Quinn," Toman, Dorkins. Parkvale: Leggatt; Nicol, Abel; Laing, J. Shand, P. Shand; Stewart, Smith, Ritchie, Macdonald, Low. Referee - Mister J. Mackie, Aberdeen.
The game open briskly, that had only been a few minutes commenced when it was quite apparent that the juniors were no match for the Aberdeen reserves, who monopolised the play. After 5 minutes play, "Quinn," Aberdeen's centre forward, scored the first goal. The juniors, although they gave a bright display, could do practically nothing against the strong defence put up by Robertson and Willox. When half-time was called, "Quinn" had five goals to his credit, the half-time score being - Aberdeen A 6 goals, Parkvale 1 goal.
On resuming, the Parkvale men put more life into their play, and in the first 5 minutes secured a goal through Ritchie. Aberdeen then took the game in hand, and the centre forward added another goal. The juniors had more of the game in the second half, and managed to secure two other goals. J. J. Simpson and Hilton scored for the reserves. A very uninteresting game ended in favour of Aberdeen buying 9 goals to 3.
