Aberdeen A met Forfar Athletic in a Northern League match at a Station Park, Forfar, on Saturday. Teams:- .
Forfar Athletic: Rodger; Shand, Stewart; Coull, Gowans, Bruce; Preston, Langlands, Ogg, Nicoll, Petrie.
Aberdeen A: Herd; Willox, Brebner; Davidson, Simpson, Robertson; Hilton, Lawrie, young, Simpson, Jaffrey.
Referee - Mr. Harry Gould, Dundee.
At the commencement Aberdeen did the pressing, and gave the home backs considerable trouble. A foul off Simpson gave Athletic an opening, but they could not pierce the powerful defense of the Wasps. Fouls became rather frequent at this stage, and several times the players were called for offside. More than once Aberdeen threatened to get through, and would have done so but for Stewart, who was playing a fine defensive game. Aberdeen had a splendid combined run from midfield, which terminated in Simpson footing in a hard shot, which Shand blocked. Aberdeen continued to press, and succeeded in forcing a corner, from which Preston got away and forced a corner of Brebner, which went for nothing owing to Gowans's reckless kicking. Play was very quiet until half-time, when the scores stood at - Forfar Athletic, 0; Aberdeen A, 0.
On the resumption of play, Aberdeen pressed with vigour but were extremely reckless in their shooting. The Aberdeen did not have it all their own way, and Petrie got away in splendid style, I and, had it not been for Ogg committing an infringement, Forfar would have got through. Shortly before time the points were secured for Forfar Athletic by a beautiful shot which went slightly off the mark.
