The Aberdeen A team met the select eleven of the Aberdeen junior teams in a friendly match at central park last night. Teams:-
Aberdeen A: Mutch; Newman, Brebner; John Robertson, JJ Simpson, Gowie Robertson; James Robertson, Ward, Stewart Davidson, Hilton the Lawrie.
Junior Select: King; Hannah, Cooper; Merton, Ross, Neill; Martin, Dodds, Dalgarno, Gray, Ritchie
The juniors pressed hard at the start, but could make no impression on the A's defence. Aberdeen got well away on the right, ending in Ward making a commendable try for goal, which Hannah stopped. The juniors were going fast, and the Aberdeen defence was taxed to the utmost, Brebner giving away a corner which proved unproductive. Both teams were going well, and neither side could claim any superiority. There was no scoring in the first half.
Aberdeen took the game in hand at the commencement of the second half, Gowie Robertson scoring from a neat pass by Davidson. The juniors and brightened up, and attacked again, but quickly fell away. James Robertson scored from a penalty granted Aberdeen through Cooper handling within the penalty area. Aberdeen had all the play for the rest of the game, but did not exert themselves, and the game ended - Aberdeen A, 2; Aberdeen Junior Select, 0.
