Aberdeen A engaged Harp in a friendly fixture for the benefit of the latter teams funds at Pittodrie last night. There was only a small attendance when the following teams lined up:- Aberdeen A: Mutch; Cheyne, Beattie; Davidson, JJ Simpson, Morgan; R. Simpson, McKinley, Toman, Lawrie, Ritchie. Harp: Herd; Bell, Bruce; McIntyre, Anderson, Davidson; Milne, Findlay, J. Ferries, T. Ferries, Reid. Referee, A watt. Aberdeen kicked off towards the King Street end, but the Harp were the first to press, Mutch saving a hard shot from the foot of J. Ferries. Toman made ground for Aberdeen, and passed the ball to McKinley who scored, but he was palpably off side and the point was disallowed. A fine run up the field was initiated by JJ Simpson and Lawrie, and the former very nearly culminated the effort by scoring with a neat header. A corner, however, was the only result, and for a time the Harp goalkeeper had a warm time dealing with the numerous shots that came at him from all sides. At length from a cross by Simpson, Ritchie scored for Aberdeen. Half-time arrived with Aberdeen leading by one goal to nothing.
A few minutes after the restart Mckinley, who had gone in centre for Toman who went outside right, with Simpson inside missed an open goal. For a period of hard kicking to little purpose ensued, and the game grew very uninteresting. Fouls were frequent, Harp being most to blame in this respect. Aberdeen pressed and Toman with a hot shot from far out, scored their second goal. At this stage McIntyre was put off the field for striking R. Simpson, who had been repeatedly getting the better of him with the ball. The was no further scoring, and a poor game ended - Aberdeen, 2; Harp, 0.
