The Aberdeen A travelled to Peterhead on Saturday, and engaged the local eleven in a friendly match in the Recreation Park before a fairly large attendance of spectators. Mister R. Massie, Peterhead, was referee, and the teams lined up as follows:-
Up Aberdeen: King; Hannah, Forbes; Davidson, J. J. Simpson, Low; Hay, Towns, Toman, Ritchie, Roberts.
Peterhead: Pyper; Nicolson, Irvine; McIntosh, Davidson, McDougall; Strachan, Scott, J. Thomson, Buchan, W. Thomson.
Aberdeen won the toss, and played with the wind in their favour. This advantage cause them to take up the aggressive from the kick-off, and for the whole of the first half, Peterhead played a defensive game. The Aberdeen forwards were almost continuously in the Peterhead Territory, and although they had many find opportunities they did not take full advantage of them. The Peterhead backs and the custodian played very well, and gave their opponents much trouble. About the middle of the half Aberdeen forced a corner, and a well placed ball was smartly caught and netted by Hay. The Aberdeen continued to get the best of the play, although Peterhead several times had hard lines in not scoring. No further goals were shot in the first half.
On resuming Aberdeen continued to press, but they did not get so much of the play as in the preceding 45 minutes. The local forwards had many good tries, but their play did not come up to what was expected of them, and they failed to equalise.
