The Pittodrie Under-18s qualified for the quarter-finals of the B.P. Youth Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Brechin City at Pittodrie. A good first-half performance was poorly reflected by a one-goal interval lead, Malcolm Kpedekpo scoring his second goal of the competition and his fifth of the season.
Brechin staged something of a revival early in the second half, but the Pittodrie colts were settled by a second goal, claimed by Icelander Gunnar Einarsson. Exploiting their superior fitness Aberdeen went on to add two more goals to their tally. Einarsson scored again after a one-two with Dennis Wyness and the Brechin rearguard were pressurised into conceding an "own goal".
