In an Eastern League match at Pittodrie last night, Aberdeen "A" defeated Montrose by 4 goals to 2. On the whole victory went to the better side, but neither team gave a particularly bright display, and had it not been for touches of comedy it would have been a dreich affair. The closing stages were played in heavy rain and in semi-darkness. Forbes opened the scoring for Aberdeen after Connon crossed accurately. May equalised for the visitors, following mistakes by the borne defence, and before the interval Ritchie tricked two opponents to score a beautiful goal and give Aberdeen the lead.
In the second half Forbes increased Aberdeen's lead, but Bauldie got through to make up part of the leeway with a hard drive. Before the end Ritchie met a clearance by Sutherland to round off the scoring. Best for Aberdeen A were Bruce, McBoyle, Connon, Ritchie, and Forbes, and for Montrose, Morrison, Wright, Bauldie and Lennie.
