'A' Team's Revenge

Hamilton Well Beaten at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen "A" revenged themselves for a recent Alliance League defeat the hands of Hamilton overwhelming the Academicals by seven goals to one at Pittodrie.
For the greater part of the first period the visitors held their own, but for the remainder of the game Aberdeen held a decided advantage. The chief feature of the match was the fine display given by the local juniors, Dickie, of Mugiemoss, and Oliphant, of Inverurie Locos. David, who got his first chance at centre forward, notched four smart goals.

Aberdeen Take the Lead.

In the first minute Oliphant headed past, and at the other end Blackwell saved from Dand. David led the next Aberdeen attack, but from his slip Dickie shot weakly. Clever play by the ex-Mugiemoss player let David through, but a corner was the only result. Hamilton replied in fine style, and a great shot by McLuckie struck the post. Twenty minutes after the start Wilson accepted a David pass to open the scoring. The Academicals made a strong but useless appeal for offside.
Ferguson led a counter attack, and from the winger's centre shot past. At this stage Aberdeen lost the services of Oliphant for a short time, and during his absence McKenzie increased the home total. Immediately after, from a Wilson centre, David headed against the crossbar. The visitors fought back pluckily, and Blackwell held a touchline effort from Ferguson. The home attack played clever football, and before the interval McKenzie added a third goal.

David's Feat.

The game had only been resumed two minutes when David met a Wilson cross with his head to add another point. Hamilton replied with a vigorous attack, and Blackwell held a great long-range effort by McLuckie. The visitors' revival lasted long enough for Pringle to reduce the leeway. From then onwards Aberdeen monopolised play, and David quickly added a fifth goal. Gilmour and his two backs had a busy time after this, and the keeper had to grab a grounder by David. The home centre completed his hat trick from a well-placed free kick by Donald. A few minutes later David accepted a pass from the left to bring the home total to seven. The Accies continued to put up a fight, but were no match for the Pittodrie side.
