Young Dons Fully Earn Point
Aberdeen "A" had to fight desperately hard to save a point at Pittodrie. What good football there was came from the visitors, but the Young Dons deserved to draw if only for their great fight in the second half. During this period the Perth goal was subjected to terrific pressure, and the backs and half-backs were kicking anywhere for safety. Moulds was a heroic figure in the Perth team at this stage.Visitors Dangerous
Playing against the wind in the first half the Young Dons could not make much headway, although Smith, the former Inverness keeper, had a few anxious moments. However, the visitors always looked the more dangerous, and their wingers, well supplied by Lyle and Black, kept the home defence busy. They deservedly went ahead in thirty-three minutes, Newman heading neatly past Westland. After half-time the Aberdeen reserves set up an almost incessant attack on the Perth goal, but it was not until twenty-five minutes gone that they got their reward, Ritchie Smith beating Smith from somewhere near the penalty spot. Following this both goals ran narrow escapes, but the defences prevailed and there was no further scoring.Westland Safe
For Aberdeen A, Westland was a safe 'keeper, but Temple and Urquhart, although steady, were not so good as usual. Gavin was a great half-back, with Reid not far behind. In attack Brown was best, although Ritchie Smith and Warnock showed improvement in the second half. Moulds was the strong man in the Perth team, but both backs played well. In attack, Duncan, Lyle and Caskie were seen to most advantage.Source: Press & Journal, 11th November 1935
