Consolidate Alliance League Leadership
By defeating St. Johnstone A by the odd goal in seven at Perth on Saturday, Aberdeen A have consolidated their position at the head of the Alliance League table. With a game more played they are four points ahead of Kilmarnock A, but Rangers A, with four games in hand, are only five points behind.Saints' Half-Time Lead
The Young Dons opened well on a frostbound pitch and soon after the start Ritchie Smith tested his namesake in the Saints' goal. A minute later Smith opened the scoring, sending through a fine shot after an effort by Scott had been blocked by the 'keeper. The homesters retaliated and Ferguson sent in a hard shot which Westland managed to push over the bar. Soon afterwards Black equalised for the Saints and two minutes later Caskie got through to give them a 2-1 lead at the interval. The Young Dons were soon on level terms after the resumption. Following a goalmouth scrimmage Welsh, the home right back, attempting to clear his lines, put through his own goal. Russell, however, restored the Saints' lead after Urquhart had made a goalmouth clearance from the same player. Then Aberdeen came more into the picture, and clever work by Gavin enabled them to make headway, but Bain was adjudged offside. After a spell of midfield play Ritchie secured the equaliser, and close on time Bain headed the winning goal from a cross by Ritchie.Source: Press & Journal, 10th February 1936
