Aberdeen Win At Rugby Park

Well in Running for Alliance Honours

Aberdeen "A" keep well in the running for Alliance League honours. On Saturday they enhanced their prospects by defeating the Kilmarnock reserves at Rugby Park.
The Young Dons deserved their victory. They displayed fine all-round form, and took the chances that came their way.

Scoring Opened

The Pittodrie reserves carried the first threat, and a hard drive by Taylor tested Brown, in goal. Killie came away strongly after this, but the visiting defence was on top form.
After thirty-two minutes the Young Dons opened the scoring. Lang started the movement which ended in Ritchie Smith scoring from close range.
Just on half-time the Young Dons had a narrow escape, Morton putting past the post from a penalty-kick.

Ritchie Defends Well

The second half was only minutes old when Collins levelled the score. Within a minute, however, the Young Dons were again on the lead. Brown dropped a shot from Smith, and Taylor found the net.
During a spell of Kilmarnock attack, Ritchie defended heroically, and broke up numerous attacks.
A third goal for the Young Dons settled the issue. Smith headed through from a Lang cross.
