CURRER GETS THREE FOR YOUNG DONS
Galston flattered to deceive with a goal scored by Mair five minutes from the start in their concluding Alliance game with Aberdeen "A." The winger ran in take well-placed cross first-time and Kelly had no chance to save. Five matches in a week had taken toll the homesters' vitality and once Warnock netted the equaliser around the tenth minute Aberdeen never looked back. In due course Currer accepted pass close in from Warnock to set his side on the lead. Galston were relying almost wholly on their defence now and after several hairsbreadth escapes Williams' goal again fell to Currer. Shortly before that Mair and Wylie forced an opening on Aberdeen's left and only the timely intervention of Graham kept Wylie from netting. Aberdeen crossed over two goals in hand and looked capable of increasing substantially that lead. Galston's attacks were getting extremely poor service from their half backs and even then they had only one or two forwards, notably Dalziel and Mair, who were at all dangerous. Ten minutes of the second half brought a fourth goal for Aberdeen, Jeffrey leaving Scott with a clear field to beat Williams. Galston's defence was again fault when Scott put on a fifth goal. Afterwards Aberdeen's sixth and last goal was netted by Currer. Too late to be of any avail Dalziel came away with sparkling run and a spectacular goal for Galston. Dalziel was outstanding in a dismal Galston side and later smartly connected with a cross Connell to score a third and last goal for Galston. It was a poor game with Aberdeen never seriously tested, and their team excelling Galston's in every department.Source: Press & Journal, 2nd May 1938
