ONLY HALDANE SHINES IN STROLLERS' SIDE
It was all too easy for the Pittodrie reserves at Pittodrie, the amateurs putting up rather feeble resistance. The homesters scored six, but it might have been more. One man stood between them and a cricket score - Haldane, at centre half. He was here, there and everywhere in an effort to put things right for his side. There was nothing exciting in the early stages although Pattillo kept the visiting defence on the alert. In the fifteenth minute, however, Warnock started a goal rush by netting after Boyd had pushed out a shot by Hume. Williams crashed in a second, and Grant, with-a free kick from twenty-five yards, smashed home a drive which Boyd made no attempt to stop. Scott brought the total to four on the interval, Boyd fumbling a simple shot. Queen's were more lively in the second half, but despite good attempts by Brown and Bell they could not find the net. Williams got a fifth for the Young Dons near the close, and Pattillo had his reward for hard work with the last goal just on the whistle.Source: Press & Journal, 14th November 1938
