PARKHEAD SCORE DOES NOT DO ABERDEEN JUSTICE
Celtic "A " jumped Into the lead in the Reserve League by beating Aberdeen's reserve side, but the manner in which they won at Parkhead was not too impressive. On the run of play Aberdeen were not three goals inferior, and with a little luck might have scored more than once. Carruth scored for the homesters in the early stages, but for the remainder of the first half the Young Dons held the upper hand. Several times they got right through, but they were thwarted by Docherty, the home 'keeper, who was in fine form. Celtic had more of the play in the later stages, and goals by Carruth and Docherty put them in a comfortable position. Stars in the home side were Docherty, Davitt, O'Neill, Carruth and Birrell. Best for Aberdeen "A" were Kelly, Cooper, Waddell, Newman and Williams.Source: Press & Journal, 6th March 1939
