The Pittodrie reserves were on an easy mark. They were masters of the situation from the start and held command throughout.
With Waddell dominating, the young Dons' half-line had a firm grip of the game. Devlin and his fellow forwards in the Lanarkshire attack were never able to break it, though they never gave up the attempt.
Weakness was revealed early in the Hamilton defence on the left. Miller and Yorston, in good form and well supplied with the ball, provided the openings for Martin to net twice. Yorston next profited from a Miller cross.
Carroll, who scored the Dons' fourth, had a good game. Johnstone did not give the Banks o' Dee centre a lot of scope. Spalding, up against Hamilton's best defender, Bonomy, did himself credit.
Irvine, who scored near the finish, and Torley made the livelier of the Hamilton wings.
