Three Promising Young Dons

Thomson, Robertson and McIntyre

SHEER hard work rather than brilliant play enabled Aberdeen "A" to beat Hearts "A" 3-0 in a Reserve League game at Pittodrie last night, writes Norman MacDonald. As the score suggests, the Young Dons carried more punch in attack.

Three Pittodrie players showed distinct promise. They are by no means ready for the League side, but their general play suggested that they wil make the grade.
They were Thomson (centre half), Robertson (right half) and McIntyre (inside left). Massie was the better back, and Preston did some useful work at left half. Stenhouse was not a success on the right wing and McIntyre was the most impressive forward.
Aberdeen "A" look the lead in twelve minutes, when a terrific free kick by Preston from twenty-five yards went into the net off the post.
Five minutes after the start of the second half, a neat slip by Callander saw a powerful drive by Hume enter the net off the woodwork. The third counter came near the close. McIntyre dispossessed Henderson and rammed the ball past the 'keeper.
