Faster on Ball Than Fraserburgh
ABERDEEN Reserves were not unduly stretched to build up a 2-0 lead against Fraserburgh in the first leg of a Commercial Cup first round tie at Pittodrie last night. The Young Dons have often played better, but throughout they were faster on the ball than the Highland League team.
Both goals were scored by Botha, after he had changed positions with Smith, the inside right. The first, in fourteen minutes, was a grounder which Geddes might have saved.
The 'keeper had no chance with the second in thirty-two minutes - a flashing left-foot shot which finished high in the net.
Massie, Preston and Thomson were strong in the home defence, and the inside men, Smith and McIntyre, were the best forwards. In a Fraserburgh side which tried hard but was lacking in speed, Erskine, Dutch, Thomson and Grieve showed to most advantage.
