Out
The Dons failed to reach the semi-final and would be the first to admit that on the day's showing, Motherwell deserved their success. All afternoon, Aberdeen were struggling, and yet, as so often happens in such circumstances, they might have won the tie. The second goal they lost was the result of a defensive slip, and the break of the ball meant all the difference on several occasions when Aberdeen might have taken the lead. Still th eside having more of the pressure were victorious - fair enough! The Dons didn't play as badly as some critics would make out. Nevertheless, it wasn't good enough!
