Bad Ground
The pitch for last week's cup-tie had a deceptive appearance. It looked in good condition but was actually spongy. The bounce of the ball could seldom be judged and at times a ground pass failed to reach the player not because of any misjudgement but due to the bad surface.
Like Lead
The players were saying that the bali felt like a "lump of lead" and in the opinion of some it seemed heavier than on any other occasion they can remember. This would seem to be an argument in favour of using the white ball (or the yellow)!!
These specially treated leather balls seem to be impervious to moisture.
Good Show
The cup-tie may not have been a classic but it gave some of the thrills we associate with such games. The Dons grudged that second half penalty award - but if Easson had scored with the kick, we might well have had a "spellbinder" till the finish. As it was, Arbroath fought with spirit to the very end and made many friends.
