Last minute strike dumps Dons.

The U21 side suffered another last minute defeat at Pittodrie as St. Johnstone ran out 3-2 winners in a game the Dons should have won. Defensive errors proved costly and this result keeps the Dons anchored at the bottom of the table.

The Dons could have taken the lead in the 19th minute when Jim Weir almost turned the ball into his own net. His blushes were saved when the ball scraped past the post. Two minutes later Michie shot wide of the target before Mike had a fine shot saved by Cooper in the 26th minute.

A minute later the Dons found themselves behind when Parker pounced on a misplaced pass from Hedderman. The striker then had the easiest of tasks to beat Esson and put Saints ahead. The Dons came back strongly and Michie had a fine shot tipped over the bar to safety before Hedderman tried to make amends for his earlier error. Unfortunately the defender was denied by a goal line clearance.

The Dons eventually drew level in the 44th minute after Mike was upended inside the penalty area. The Englishman brushed himself down and fired home the equaliser from the spot. Aberdeen then went ahead in the 59th minute when Michie headed a Clark cross into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

The lead was only held for four minutes as another error from Hedderman let Parker in again. This time the Saints man showed great composure as he rounded Esson and rolled the ball into the net. The Dons then had most of the chances, but like the Motherwell match a couple of weeks ago the Dons were sunk by a last minute goal. The ball was lost in midfield and that man Parker pounced once more for a gift wrapped hat trick.
