Aberdeen U21s put up a spirited performance this afternoon as they twice came from behind to earn a draw against Partick Thistle. In charge of the experienced team were goalkeeping coach Jim Leighton and Senior Community coach Neil Simpson.
Their reign in charge got off to a bad start as Thistle took an early lead after only 7 minutes. Aberdeen then got their act together and came more into the game but unfortunately missed numerous chances. The Dons finally drew level through Billio after 73 minutes. Their joy was short lived however as Thistle took the lead again 3 minutes later. Aberdeen pushed forward, piling on the pressure and were rewarded when Leon Mike made it 2:2 in the 82nd minute.
Afterwards Simmy was pleased with the team efforts. "It was a spirited display with some good performances. I was pleased with the attitude shown by all the players. With a bit more luck in front of goal we could have won the game."
Peter Kjaer came through the game unscathed and is in line for a return to first team action on Saturday.
