Foster is the hero in drama packed draw

17 year old Richard Foster (pictured) was the toast of the Aberdeen Under 21 side as he grabbed a hat-trick in the 4-4 draw with a strong Celtic side at Airdrie United's Shyberry Excelsior Stadium.

The young Dons, who had Peter Kjaer back after injury in goal, were not overawed by a Hoops side who numbered Neil Lennon, Paul Lambert and new signing Javier Sanchez Broto in their ranks, and took a third minute lead through Foster after a Lambert slip. A soft penalty allowed Celtic to draw level through Shaun Maloney and they took the lead just on half time as McManus nodded home.

Early in the second period the Dons fell two behind as Prunty score Celtic's third but the Dons roared back with three goals in twelve minutes as Foster completed his treble and then Nicolas Fabiano gave the Dons the lead for a second time.

But Celtic were not to be denied and Prunty grabbed a late equaliser to ensure a share of the spoils.

Coach Neil Cooper was delighted with his side's efforts. "Foster took his goals really well and made some great runs. We were a bit naive at the back though and lost two goals from corners, but the lads played well against a Celtic team who had greater experience."
