Aberdeen suffered the disappointment of a League Cup exit in Edinburgh when a late penalty saw first division Hibs progress to the quarter finals.
The Dons line-up for the game in Edinburgh was not surprisingly the same as the one which started against Celtic on Sunday.
After thirty minutes play, the home side had enjoyed the best of the play without seriously testing Jim Leighton. Neither side enjoyed any gilt edged chances in the first half and at the break it was still goalless:-

Ricky Gillies replaced Ilain Kiriakov in 59 minutes and just sixty seconds later Russell Anderson was booked for a foul on Tony Rougier.
With eight minutes to go the home side were awarded a spot kick when David Rowson was judged to have handled inside the box. Steve Crawford made no mistake from the resultant penalty.
Despite incessant Dons pressure, that proved to be the only goal action of the game and it was the first division outfit who progress to the last eight of the competition.
