Dons See Off Saints, Next Up Inverness

Aberdeen defeated St Mirren by two goals to nil in the 3rd round of the Tennents Scottish Cup. The game was an exciting affair that in all truth could have gone either way in the first half, but the Dons came out strongly in the 2nd period.

Barry Lavety came close for the visitors but he failed to score past Jim Leighton. Zerouali, Winters and Bernard had chances for the Dons in the first 45 but none of them could hit the net. Hicham Zerouali started to show some good touches in the final quarter of the first half, and he had a 30 yard effort that came close.

The second half started well for The Dons, and their pressure paid off when a Stavrum header looked goalbound, and it was finished off by ZEROUALI for his 4th goal of the season.

St Mirren tried to come back into the game, but the Dons held out well, limiting the visitors chances with some solid defending. Bernard broke away in the final minutes on the counter-attack, and a 1-2 with Hicham Zerouali led to BERNARD scoring to put the tie beyond doubt.

The Dons will play Caley Thistle in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup, after the Inverness side disposed of Celtic 3-1 at Celtic Park.
