Stavrum Fires Dons into Final

The Dons started the game slowly with Joaquim Ferraz almost netting an opener for United in the first five minutes. Aberdeen fought their way back into the game and should have been awarded a penalty when Hicham Zerouali was almost severed in the United box only for referee John Rowbotham to wave away claims.

Indeed, Zerouali was coming in for some harsh treatment by the United defence and was felled several times in a highly competitive first half.

The second half continued in much the same vein with both sides scrapping desperately to create an opening without much success, however a solitary strike at the back post from Arild Stavrum 12 minutes from time after some fine work by Hicham Zerouali and man of the match Andy Dow ensured the Dons can look forward to a day out at Hampden against either Celtic or Kilmarnock on Sunday 19th March.
