Young Dons lose out to experience

A very young under 21 side went down to an experienced Tangerines outfit at Tannadice tonight although manager Neil Cooper was far from disappointed at the performance from his youthful charges.

"Considering they had a number of first team squad players on duty, including Tony Bullock, Stewart Duff, Craig Easton, Jim Paterson, Jason Scotland and Collin Samuel, I was happy with the way they played and it was all part of the learning curve for the likes of Andy Bagshaw and Michele Lombardi, who could easily have got on to the scoresheet in the second half after coming on as a substitute."

United opened the scoring after 13 minutes thanks to a PATERSON header and the same player added a second four minutes before the interval. Right on the break SCOTLAND made it three and SAMUEL added the fourth in the 71st minute. Along with Lombardi, both Bryan Prunty and John Stewart saw efforts go close as Aberdeen fought to reduce the deficit in the second period
