locos beat Aberdeen select

A young Aberdeen select lost 2-0 to a strong Inverurie Locos side tonight. However, more importantly for the Dons was the fact that Phil McGuire and captain, Russell Anderson, each came through 45 minutes.

The opening 30 minutes saw few chances for either side however Inverurie broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a header from Walker.

In the second half Aberdeen had a few good chances to level the score but it was not to be. In the 77th minute Inverurie doubled their lead with a goal from Davidson.

After the game Neil Cooper said: "It was a hard game but I'm pleased we managed to keep our shape. There were a lot of young lads out there who are probably not ready to play at this level just yet. They were a physically stronger team and had more experience, at one point we had 8 under 19 players on the pitch and a couple of them are only sixteen. These games are good learning processes for the boys and they can only benefit from them."
