Jimmy also gave a start to a young Dutch amateur player. 22 year old Rob Haveman was handed a role in midfield.
Russell Anderson and Zander Diamond again started in central defense. Chris Clark and Noel Mendy were the only other players who stared yesterday.
Ritchie Byrne gave the Dons the perfect start as they took the lead on 2 minutes. Barry Nicholson played the ball in and the Irish defender hit a superb volley.
Aberdeen had one or two other chances in the first half but were unable to take them. There was a scare for the Dons when Zander Diamond complained to the bench that he had a problem with his groin. The defender was substituted on 31 minutes and replaced by John Stewart. The move looked more precautionary than anything else.
Aberdeen had to wait until the 53 minute for the second goal. Jamie Smith played in a good cross, Stewart dummied the ball and Adams was well placed to score.
Just after the hour mark it was three. There was a bit of a scramble in front of the goal and it was unclear where the defender or Noel Mendy got the final touch, although the striker was certainly claiming it.
Mendy also had a hand in the fourth goal. His cut back found Stewart who put away the chance well.(68 mins)
After the game Jimmy Calderwood was certainly happier with the performance than he was yesterday.
The next game is on Tuesday night against De Graafschap (kick off 19:00 cet)
