Al-Aluminum 3 - 2 Aberdeen

Aberdeen started the match in a 4-4-2 formation with Diamond and Considine in the centre of defence, Smith on the left and Touzani on the right. In midfield Severin and Maguire were in the middle with de Visscher right and Heuvel on the left. Brewster partnered Lee Miller up front. Aberdeen carved out a good chance in the 11th minute when Brewster headed a Severin free kick back across goal, but Heuvel hit a weak shot straight at the keeper.

Miller, Maguire and Severin all had half chances and the Dons performance was much improved from Wednesday. Despite some decent play the Dons found themselves a goal down in the 37th minute. Diamond and Touzani got themselves in a mix up and Hamada was given far too much space. The striker took full advantage hitting a 20-yard effort into the top corner to give the Egyptian side the lead.

Brewster went close a minute later when he headed a Dan Smith cross off the woodwork. The Dons had looked a lot more comfortable, but once again poor defending had let them down. Lee Miller was also cautioned in the first half for a late challenge.

Jimmy Calderwood had his players fired up after the break and found themselves level two minutes into the second half. New recruit de Visscher was the architect. The Dutchman raced down the right, beat his man and headed for the bye line. He then looked up and sent a perfect cross on to the head of Craig Brewster and the striker made no mistake with his finish. The Dons could have gone further ahead two minutes later when Smith and Maguire combined well on the left and the Maguire's shot was turned round the post by the keeper. In the 58th minute Foster replaced Heuvel.

The Dons were not to be denied however and in the 66th minute they went ahead. Once again it was de Visscher who made the goal when his cross, which surpassed his first,  picked out Foster. The substitutes diving header gave the keeper no chance. The Dons looked to be in control and a minute later Nicholson replaced Maguire and McNamara replaced Touzani. Then in the 76th minute goal scorer Brewster was replaced by Chris Clark. Aberdeen's good work was undone by two goals in three minutes. The lively Hamada added his and Al Aluminum's second in the 78th minute with another superb finish. Three minutes later Walid sealed the win with a controversial goal. Hamada was the provider this time when his cross found Walid. His shot hit the bar and appeared to crash down on the line, but it was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the protests of the Dons players. The Dons cannot now reach the final of the tournament, but on a positive note this was a much improved performance from the opening match.

RedWeb caught up with Jimmy Calderwood after the game for his post match reaction. He said, "It was a much improved performance from Wednesday night, but obviously I'm disappointed with the result as we can't now win the tournament. We scored a couple of great goals but once again some of the defending was poor. Miller is suspended for Monday's game after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament. This is something the players need to think about this season as suspensions can be costly."

Jimmy added that Souter, who picked up a knock will probably miss the third match on Monday night. In tonight's earlier match hosts, Al Ettehad, beat Arab Contractors 2-1. In other news Jamie Winter has left the club and signed for Chesterfield who are currently managed by ex-Don Lee Richardson. In the AIFF tournament today the Dons U14's lost to the Faroes 1-0 in the Under 14 final.
