Aberdeen reserves drew 1-1 with St Mirren at Glebe Park with a fine performance from a very young team, a team that resembled more of an U19 side, up against an experienced St Mirren team who included a number of first team players. Although St Mirren had more of the play in the early stages, Aberdeen defended well. Scott Ross in particular had a good game with a number of vital blocks in the first half and Scott Bain in goal made a couple of good saves. In the closing stages of the half Michael Paton, who was full of running throughout, set up Nicky Clark who had an effort from 18 yards out but a defender cleared it off the line. Then former Don Dennis Wyness was clean through but pushed his shot past the post.
In the second half St Mirren took the lead on 70 minutes, a fine solo effort from Wyness. Aberdeen however fought back and deservedly got an equaliser on 85 minutes. A great Nicky Low cross was met by Mitch Megginson who saw his header hit the bar. Hallur Hansson however was on hand to nod the ball home.
The goal capped a fine performance by Hallur. Nicky Low also played well. At the back Scott Bain made some good saves and looked secure throughout and Michael Paton worked hard up front.
