SPL Youth 19

04/04/2009 | KO:

Aberdeen kept their superb unbeaten run going as the young Dons held Celtic to a goalless draw at Balgownie last Saturday. They have not been beaten in the league since the 10th October 2008.

Neil Cooper spoke to RedWeb after the game and said, "Ahead of the game we had a major selection problem in the centre of defence. Rogvi Holm got injured on the Friday and Stirling Smith also failed to make it. Then Zander pulled out of the senior squad which meant Jonathan Crawford was called up and had to travel down to Motherwell. I moved Ryan Jack into the middle of the park and played Hansson at right back. Ryan had a superb game. All our defenders and goalkeeper did very well. Although we did not create a lot we defended really well and limited them to shots from distance. It was a very encouraging performance with such a young side against an experienced Celtic team. Anthony Bolger started his first game for U19s and did really well."
