Nicky Low in action today

Aberdeen U19s went down to a very disappointing 3-1 defeat to Falkirk this afternoon at Stirling University. Aberdeen dominated the first half and deservedly went ahead on the half hour mark when Brown scored from the penalty spot. In the second half though they lost a very soft goal and the game changed. Falkirk got a lift and after that the Dons conceding two more poor goals and the home side ran out comfortable winners. Ryan Jack in action today

Aberdeen started brightly and Nicky Low had a cross come shot which just fizzed around the goal, A poor kick out from the Falkirk keeper then set up another chance for Low but he was unable to take advantage of the mistake. Hallur Hansson was the next to have chance after 10 minutes after a fine move down the left but his shot went wide. Ryan Jack then made a powerful run which led to a shot from Mitch Megginson but he pushed his effort just wide.

On 17 minutes Falkirk had their first chance when captain Cooper hit a powerful shot but Bain saved well. Then on 22 minutes Davidson had another chance for the home side but again Bain saved well. Nicky Low was having a fine first half and he had another good run down the left. He found Hansson and this time his shot was just wide. On the half hour mark Falkirk had a free kick in a dangerous position but thankfully the ball went just over.

Aberdeen deservedly took the lead on 32 minutes. After another good move Jordon Brown was taken down in the box and the referee had no hesitation and pointed straight to the spot. Falkirk were unhappy and two players were booked for dissent. The wait did not put Brown off and although the keeper got a slight touch on it the shot was powerful enough to find the net.

Jordon Brown scores from the spot

Brown could have had a second shortly afterwards when he was picked out unmarked at the back post but his shot was charged down. Then at the other end Cooper again was allowed time to get another powerful shot in but his effort went inches wide.

The Dons go one up Just before the break Aberdeen had a couple more good chances. From a corner there was a goalmouth scramble but no one in red could get the vital touch. Nicky Low then almost scored direct from free a free kick. Everyone was expecting him to cross the ball into the boxbut instead he went for the near post. Goalkeeper Walker only just got back and no more to put the ball around the post. A good save. Then Brown had another chance but his header was straight at the keeper.

The second half continued the same way as the first. McRobbie did well and laid it off to Brown, who was finding himself in some great positions, and his first time shot was parried over by the keeper. Then after 55 minutes disaster. Alston beat Jack in the box and his shot went through the hands of Scott Bain. The goal came out of nothing and it gave the home side a massive lift.

Things then went from bad to worse just after the hour. They lost the ball just outside the Falkirk box. The home side broke quickly and after a fine move the ball was crossed from the right. Bain and Ross both allowed Fraser to get in between them and the striker headed home into the empty net.

Nico Gibson came on to try and give Aberdeen at bit more physical presence up front. He did well and had a couple of half chances. Aberdeen kept pushing forward in search of an equaliser but as they pushed forward they were caught out at the back. Bain came out to try and rescue the situation but his clearance went straight to Fraser who calmly fired home for his second.
