Aberdeen youth side made up for last week's disappointment in the cup with a deserved victory over last season's youth champions Hibernian. With the score level at the interval, the Dons dominated the second half and ran out deserved winners by 5-3 in an exciting match.

The Dons started well and Megginson and Low both went close before the two combined to create the opening goal. Low executed an excellent pass for Megginson to chase. He beat a Hibs defender and squared for McRobbie to score. Aberdeen continued to play well, but Hibs then equalised in controversial circumstances when keeper Bain was adjudged to have taken down a Hibs forward. The players were incensed and claimed the ball had been won cleanly by the keeper who actually made a gret save.

The protests fell on deaf ears and Love netted from the spot. The Dons were unperturbed and continued to create chances with Megginson going closest, but it was the home side who took the lead two minutes from the interval when Bell headed a well delivered free kick beyond Bain. From the kick off the Dons went up field and a good move saw Jack and Sorensen set up McRobbie for his second goal of the match.

Aberdeen took control after the break and Low was outstanding in central midfield. There were early chances for Megginson and Scott Ross with the latter heading straight at the keeper. McRobbie also had a chance to grab his hat trick, but was denied by a double save from the home keeper. Low then had a chance, but he tried to chip the keeper when a pass to the unmarked Sorensen might have been more beneficial. It was beginning to look as though it wasn't the Dons day when they had a loud appeal for a spot kick when Megginson was taken down, but the referee wasn't interested.

The pressure paid off in the 66th minute when a Jack throw in from the right was flicked on by Davidson allowing Megginson to head into the top corner. Ten minutes later Aberdeen scored a fourth when Davidson was on hand to make sure a shot from Low found the back of the net after the keeper failed to hold on. Robertson then fired wide after a great move before Jack sealed the points in the 90th minute with a fine solo effort. Following some great play on the right he cut inside and calmly beat the keeper at his near post. Hibs earned a consolation in injury time to end this thrilling goalfest..
