Lack of Drive
Although they did register a decisive win, Aberdeen's display was not altogether satisfactory. There seemed to be a lack of drive about the whole side. Are they overconfident? The first goal came after fourteen minutes. Milne trapped a cross from Donaldson and presented McCall with a gilt-edged chance, which he promptly accepted. A faulty pass back by Ancell three minutes later saw St Bernards regain equality through W. Wilkie, but Milne restored the Dons' lead after a shot by Dyer had been blocked, and McCall, with a neat header from a cross from McLeod, got a third goal just on the interval.
Second Half
In the second half Milne increased the home total from a cross from Taylor. Dyer picked up a pass from McLeod, cut in, and beat Matthews with a terrific drive. In the closing minutes the left-winger made the total six and Milne completed his hat-trick.
