DONS GETTING CARELESS
A hotly-disputed goal gave Aberdeen the points. But there is no gainsaying they had the better team-work and sense of position. Their forward line showed many clever touches, but were apt to become too close with their passing and careless in their finishing.
Both defences were on their toes. Willie Woodburn left little or no chances for Pattillo. He showed cool determination in lace the Dons' forcing attacks.
Aberdeen's right wing was powerful, and the inter-passing a treat to watch. But near goal they Became scrappy. To balance the attack Mortensen changed positions with Harvey in the second half. He was a persistent trier.
Smith, Rangers centre-forward, was always waiting for a chance, but Gavin kept him well shadowed. His right wing was most attentive, but on his left things didn't go so well.
Following a Woodburn-Mortensen head-on collision two minutes from time the visitors were awarded a hotly disputed penalty, from which Dyer scored the decisive goal.
