Dons? Defence Shines

Aberdeen can view their 3-1 victory over Greenock Morton at Pittodrie with satisfaction. There was little between the teams at the interval, but in the second half the Dons gained the mastery and were good winners in the end. During this period they lost the services of Taylor with a leg injury, while Morton were without Hunter in the closing stages. He received a fractured jaw.

The Aberdeen defence, in which three players - Cooper, Dunlop and Gavin - were outetanding, was mainly responsible for the victory.
Cooper had trouble with the Morton left before the interval, but was their master later. Dunlop and he showed perfect understanding. Gavin played a great game as pivot.
The forwards were not seen to advantage until after the equaliser. Then the gave the visiting defence a trying time. McSpadyen was in grand form. Showing a great turn speed, he controlled the ball cleverly and his crosses were very accurate. Russell or Airdrie, his partner, and Ferguson also had a good game, while Hay took his goals smartly.
