Aberdeen A and Aberdeen University played a friendly game at Pittodrie. There was a small attendance when the teams lined up as follows, under the charge of Mr. A. Watt, Aberdeen:-
Aberdeen A: Herd; Urquhart, Willox; Davidson JJ Simpson, Gowie Robertson; John Robertson, James Robertson, Reid, R. Simpson, McKenzie.
University: Paterson; McHardy, Smith; Gordon, McLeod, Ross; McEchern, Anderson, Smith, Wilson, Park.
Aberdeen won the toss, and were the first to attack. Paterson said a capital shot from James Robertson, but the next minute Herd had to save a rocket shot from Park. Considering the condition of the pitch, play was very fast, and at times interesting. Both goals had narrow escapes. Two wards the end of the first period Aberdeen attacked strongly, and R. Simpson scored as the result of a neat pass from John Robertson. At half-time Aberdeen were leading by one goal to nil.
The second half opened briskly, the University forwards making every endeavour to secure the equaliser. Herd saved repeatedly, but Wilson, taking advantage of a momentary slackness of the Aberdeen backs, broke through and scored. Shortly after, John Robertson had put Aberdeen on the lead. The closing stages of the game or hotly contested, and Anderson scored for the visitors. Close on time Reid gave Aberdeen the lead.
