There was a good turnout of spectators at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon, when Aberdeen A met Hearts A in the second round of the 2nd XI Scottish Cup ties. The teams were:-
Hearts: McCorkindale; Welsh, Thompson; Swan, Chapman, Currie; Pringle, Laurie, Cooper, Brown, Williamson.
Aberdeen: Herd; Willox, Boyle; Hamilton, Thompson, Robertson; Harvey, Hilton, Davidson, Newman, Jaffrey.
Referee - Mr. McPherson, Glasgow.
The Hearts men at once commenced attacking operations, but the Aberdeen defence kept them at a safe distance from goal, and, after some severe pressure, the Pittodrie second string had a turn at aggressive work. Their attack was in vain, however, and before the interval the renewed pressure of the Hearts' yielded a couple of goals.
The second period of the game was poorly contested by Aberdeen, and again and again the Edinburgh team found the net, finishing up with a huge total to the good, will the visitors failed to notch a single point.
