Kirkcaldy United 1 - 1 Aberdeen

HT Score: Kirkcaldy United 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Northern League
Kirkcaldy United scorers: Gray
Aberdeen scorers: Paterson.

18/01/1908 | KO:

Aberdeen A met Kirkcaldy United at Kirkcaldy in a northern league fixture on Saturday. Teams:-

Kirkcaldy: Dorward; Neilson, Birrell; Main, Rankine, Carstairs; Kinnear, Fotheringham (East Wymess), Burnett, Gray, Fairlie.
Aberdeen A: Mutch; Hanna, Brebner; Davidson, Simpson, Drain; Muir, Mckinley, Wilson, Robertson, Paterson.
Referee - Mr. Winter, Dundee.

Aberdeen lost the toss, and from the first tried to break up the defense of the locals, but the latter prevailed. Fairlie had several fine openings but he failed to take advantage of them. A short time later, Gray opened the scoring for Kirkcaldy with a shot at close range, after receiving a fine pass from Burnett. This reverse seemed to spur the visitors on. They forced corner after corner, and it was from one of these at Paterson found the net. Kirkcaldy now began to press, but Aberdeen held them out.

On resuming, Kirkcaldy took the game in hand, and the Aberdeen goal only escaped as a result of the erratic shooting of the home forwards. Robertson had three good tries for Aberdeen, but Dorward kept his goal intact. Kirkcaldy came away in full force, and Mutch had several difficult shots to deal with. Burnett had an open goal in front of him, but he drove past. End to end play followed, and the game finished - Kirkcaldy United, 1; Aberdeen A, 1.

The A's at Kirkcaldy.

It was a stubborn battle for points which Aberdeen A put up against Kirkcaldy United, on Saturday. Play fluctuated first one way and then the other, chances of scoring being missed by both sides. The home side opened the scoring after a pretty prolonged siege round Mutch. Paterson was the scorer for Aberdeen and this youth bids fair to be one of the best forwards that has been introduced to the Reserves. There was no further scoring, and the visitors were pleased at getting the point on such a pitch, which takes some knowing to play on. Aberdeen's defence played well, and had the forwards clinched all their chances the points would have come north. The halves were all very effective on. Saturday.
