At Pittodrie on Saturday afternoon a large attendance witnessed the debut of the Aberdeen "A." The opposition was provided by Citadel "A" (Inverness). Teams:- Aberdeen: Willox; C. Mackie, J. Mackie; Murphy, Thomson, Catto; Clark, Rennie, Ruddiman, Wilson, Barron. Citadel: F. McKenzie; C. Ross, J. Ross; S. McKenzie, Marshall, J. McIntosh; A. McIntosh, F. McKenzie, Shand, J. McKenzie, R. Ross. Referee - Mr. J. H. Russell, Aberdeen.
The game opened quietly, and for the first 15 minutes was confined between the back divisions. Citadel had the better of the game, and Aberdeen's backs were kept busy. From a breakaway Barron scored through J. Ross muddling. The game continued tamely. There was no combination. Long kicking and running was the mode of playing, and though Aberdeen's men were new to each other, and did not play well together, they had the upper hand. Five minutes form half-time Wilson scored for Aberdeen.
In the second half the Citadel were confined to their own end of the field, and but for McKenzie the score might have been large, though Aberdeen's shooting lacked accuracy and pith. Willox was enabled to play in midfield most of the period, so feeble was the opposition. The drawings totalled £31.
