Aberdeen A sustained its first defeat of the season at Pittodrie yesterday at the hands of Dundee A in a Northern League fixture. There were close a pawn 4000 spectators.
The pitch had a covering of snow an inch deep, and the ground below was hard, show that the going was slow and uncertain. The visitors assumed the offensive early, and kept it up almost continuously during the first half. Stewart, while well up field, trapped a cross from his wing, and Sutherland did well to clear his shot. A goal-mouth scramble followed the custodian's kick, and the ball rolled into goal out of reach of Sutherland, to the credit of no one in particular. Most of the succeeding and rushes by the visitors were broken up by Colman before they matured.
The home forwards broke away now and again, but their efforts, all too deficient in finish, where abortive, although Morton was unfortunate with a long shot which rebounded off the crossbar.
The home team showed more dash in the second half, and a little more accurate shooting would have had Capper well beaten. Following a concert and rush by the visiting forwards, Orr had a splendid to try from out of a tussle, but the crossbar again intervened. The ball rebounded into play, however, and after a scramble Orr turned it neatly into goal. Play was otherwise generally confined in the second half to the visitors' quarters, but even so, there when was quite well merited.
