Under Scottish Alliance auspices at Pittodrie, Aberdeen Reserves beat Partick Thistle Reserves by 3 goals to 1. The only bright play came from the left wings. Duggins, well supported by C. Forbes, for Aberdeen, and Macintosh, for Partick, were the stars. If anything, Macintosh was the trickier of the two, and often earned the plaudits of the crowd for clever work. As a whole, the visitors were the more harmoniously working side, their understanding far surpassing that of Aberdeen. Mackie and Johnston on the Partick right, provided some delightful combined touches, but were ineffective near the goal. Aberdeen's first goal, on play, was not deserved. Partick were having just as much of the game as Aberdeen. The referee was just a little too hard on the visitors in granting a penalty when the ball accidentally hit Crichton on the arm. Arthur Robertson's goal, however, was well worked for, and was a beauty. Smith did not shine, and was evidently not at home. Duggins got his second and Aberdeen's third goal. Receiving a free-kick from Robertson, he netted from an acute angle. MacLauchlan's goal for Partick came from a pass from Macintosh, the culmination of a splendid solo run by the left winger.
Although morn ragged in their methods, Aberdeen were more forceful and dangerous near goal than, the visitors, which was mainly responsible for their victory.
