Aberdeen A were fortunate in securing both points in their match with Queen's Park Strollers under Scottish Alliance auspices at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, yesterday afternoon. The visitors accounted for more pressure than their opponents, but it was their ineffectiveness near goal that accounted for their defeat by two goals to nil.
In the first fifteen minutes minutes of an evenly-contested first session Spalding opened the scoring by heading through a cross by Ritchie. For the most part of the latter half of the game Strollers pressed, but failed to score, and near the close Spalding again scored.
Cunningham played a sound game in goal, but Kynoch and Thomson, the backs, were erratic in their clearances, and were frequently beaten both in speed and tactics by the opposing forwards. The half-backs all played well, while D. Thomson and Connon were the most penetrative forwards, if not so accurate in their finishing as Spalding.
The visitors were best served by Gillespie and Mackenzie.
About 300 spectators witnessed the game.
