The experience of the Aberdeen "A" team at Ibrox was similar to that of the first eleven in that in the last minutes of the game they surrendered the only goal to Rangers "A" in the semi-final of the Scottish Second XI. Cup competition. Aberdeen attacked at the outset, and Forbes was almost through when Jamieson dispossessed him. Later, a great shot by Grant was brilliantly saved by Hamilton. Morton and Chalmers improved the outlook for Rangers, but the Aberdeen defence was very sound and at the interval there was no scoring. Rangers attacked resolutely in the earlier stages of the second half, but wild finishing, coupled with good defensive play by Aberdeen, nullified their efforts. Ultimately Aberdeen got going, and the forwards served up some pretty but ineffective play. When a draw looked like being the outcome, Morton, with a brilliant individual effort, gave Rangers the lead three minutes from the close. Aberdeen were unfortunate to lose, they put up a very plucky fight. They were well served in defence by K. Sutherland, Moore, and Davidson, and in attack by Grant and Forbes. Best for Rangers were Jamieson, A. Ireland, Morton, and Chalmers.
