Plucky Fight By Aberdeen 'A'
Aberdeen Reserves put up a plucky but unsuccessful fight against Rangers "A" in the Scottish Alliance fixture at Ibrox, the home team winning by 3 goals to 2. D. Kirkwood gave Rangers an early lead, but Love quickly equalised. Shortly afterwards Dick gave Rangers the lead, but, following clever work by the Aberdeen half-backs, Beagrie equalised with a ball that went in off the cross-bar. Towards the interval Rangers attacked repeatedly, but McSevich and his backs put up a stout resistance, and there was no further scoring. In the second half both defences were well tested, but D. Kirkwood got through to get what proved the deciding goal. Rangers were slightly the better team, but there were times when Aberdeen were a trifle unfortunate in not equalising. They were well served by McSevich, Ritchie, Forsyth, Forbes, and McLeod, and Rangers best were Gray, A. Kirkwood, D. Kirkwood, and Chalmers.
