Fine Win For Aberdeen 'A'

Aberdeen's reserve team improved their position in the Scottish Alliance table at the expense of Ayr United "A," whom they defeated at Pittodrie Park on Saturday by 4 goals to 1. No one can gainsay that they fully merited their victory; in fact, they were unfortunate not to increase their lead in the second half. Nevertheless, some clever touches were shown by the visiting forwards, their right winger, being the best player on the field. Aberdeen tried Gray, of Edinburgh, outside right, but he was far from being a success. He dribbled well at times, but appeared to be out of condition. He would make an acceptable junior, but will have improve greatly on his Saturday's display before he qualifies for senior football. All three goals scored by Forbes were first-timers. The centre played his best game for some time. He foraged untiringly, and had scarcely a shot that was off the mark. The home left was the better of the wings, Love contributing some smart football, and scored Aberdeen's other point. It must be mentioned, however, that Edward had to fall back to right half when Moore was hurt and went to outside right. Despite his injury, Moore was quite an effective force. The half line kept a good grip of the opposing attack, while the defence coped with nearly all the demands made upon it. The visitors' right wing was the more dangerous section of their attack, although It was the left that opened the move that led to their scoring. Hay, the centre, was mediocre, and his goal lay more to the credit of Price for the opening he made so cleverly. Their defence was patchy, but at times they held out stoutly.
